Outside of all of the lessons learned - it still is a really beautiful garden! I am glad that you have such a great network of neighbours Zénon - that is SO important!!! And thanks for the tip about the beans and grains - i had heard that somewhere else but never trusted it...now that you have confirmed that it is true i will give it a try!

Well, you got it started and that's what counts. Each year it will be better as the ground gets worked and tilled, it will become more and more fertile, more and more weed free and easier to work the ground.

Dont worry AP, we kind of knew it would turn out that way and were «prepping» for it. Potatoes and onions seems to be going good enough for a fair harvest and maybe some beans too. And we still have a good month and a half of growing to see what else might come out good. But most of this crop was intended to be harvested and eaten by neighbors cause we wont be there when time comes. And that is more than satisfying for us for this year.

As for our winter needs, we'll go buy cases of veggies at the outdoor market here in Montreal in a few weeks when they are dirt cheap and jar it all up.

So lesson learned and a good example to all, if you are to count on your harvest to survive, better make sure your plant in rich soil.

wow, thats a bummer that it hasn't been turning out as good as you were hoping with all the work you've put into it...can the garden still be revitalized and saved before harvest? Are there some plants that are doing good?
